Membership
Membership
At OCTG, membership means more than just joining a group — it’s a shared commitment to investing in workforce development and driving the future of construction skills. Whether you’re a main contractor, subcontractor, or an allied trade business, if your company is serious about training and upskilling, we want to hear from you.
.
What we look for in Members
To become a full member, companies commit to developing their teams—this includes all staff, from regular labour-only subcontractors to apprentices and trainees.
.
Building a clear Skills & Training Plan is central to this commitment. Whether you’re recruiting new talent, supporting upskilling efforts like CSCS card attainment, or offering valuable work experience to students, your engagement matters.
.
Membership also requires an annual fee of £200 + VAT, due every January, supporting the ongoing work and benefits the Group provides.
.
Who Can Join?
We welcome applications from construction firms of all sizes. Allied trades are also encouraged to apply, provided their work is closely aligned with main construction activities. While CITB grants may not apply to allied trades, members still benefit from access to the Group’s Special Projects Fund for areas like IT, First Aid, HR, and management development.
.
Membership Expectations & Benefits
To maximise your membership benefits, we encourage all members to actively participate by attending at least two General Meetings per year. Staying connected ensures your business can access significant training grant subsidies facilitated by the Group on behalf of CITB.
.
For businesses outside CITB’s Levy scope, we offer subsidies covering 50% of eligible training costs, including tutor fees, testing, and certification—helping to make training more affordable.
.
Go Further, Gain More
Members who engage beyond the minimum meeting attendance may qualify for enhanced subsidy rates through the Group’s Skills & Training Fund, with support scaled to your company size.
Plus, our Special Projects Fund provides additional backing for initiatives beyond core construction skills, offering financial support based on merit for training in management, health and safety, IT, and more.
